Invitation to Participate in the 2018 Artist Poster Contest
For the past 30 years, All Saints Episcopal Church has held a spring garden tour, the proceeds of which have been donated entirely to charitable organizations. In recent years, the garden tour has donated approximately $25,000 a year to numerous local charities.
For the past twelve years an integral part of this charitable endeavor has been the Artist Poster Contest. Hundreds of local artists have entered works in this competition, and many have sold their work as a result. The work selected for the Garden Tour Poster is displayed throughout Beaufort and Jasper Counties. As we prepare for our 30th Garden Tour, we would like to invite you to enter one piece of two dimensional, garden-related art in the poster competition. Flowers, birds, bees, butterflies, frogs, fountains, floral landscapes and abstracts are acceptable subjects for entries. Works in oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastels, mixed media, photography and colored pencil are acceptable.
The piece selected for the poster must be vertically oriented, roughly 12×10 in scale. The submitted art will be hung in the main corridor of the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center. All hospital visitors will be invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award. All submissions will be eligible for the People’s Choice Award, including larger sizes. Only the first 70 entries will be included in the show. Procedure for Entry Beginning at 12:00 noon on October 1, 2017, send an email to email@example.com No requests submitted prior to that time will be accepted. Your email should contain “ENTRY” in the subject and the following information: • Name • Address • Telephone number • Medium you expect to use for the submission • Title (optional) • Price (optional).
You will receive a reply indicating that the information has been received. The first 70 artists will receive a second email indicating acceptance into the contest. We will maintain a waiting list in the order received, in the event that we can accept additional submissions.
All works for the show must be delivered to the main lobby of the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center, 25 Hospital Center Blvd., Hilton Head Island, SC on January 30, 2018, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon. Delivered works must be wired for hanging and accompanied by an entry fee of $20.00, cash or check payable to All Saints Garden Tour. The works will be judged after they are hung. The judges for the poster selection award will be Joyce Nagel, Don Nagel and Mary Agnes Garman(the winner of last year’s Poster Contest). Additional awards will also be given at this time. Voting for the People’s Choice Award will be available from the time of hanging until 6:00 PM on March 5, 2018.
All awards will be announced at the Artists’ Reception on March 3, 2018, held in the hospital lobby between 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM. All artists, family and guests are welcome to attend the reception. The works will be on exhibit until Saturday, March 5, 2018, when they must be picked up between the hours of 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon. While the display area is within the confines of the hospital and security is available, neither the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center nor the All Saints Episcopal Church or its Garden Tour assumes any responsibility for loss or damage to submitted works.
Any questions related to this invitation and contest should be submitted to Robin Jordan at firstname.lastname@example.org We look forward to having your entry in our 30th annual All Saints Garden Tour Artist Poster Contest.
